AUPROSPECTORS President Adam Broch of the 501(c)3 nonprofit public AUPROSPECTORS would be working with local county Alabama EMA Directors in project ALERT and other Nonprofit Public Charities to help families affected by the devastating Hurricane Zeta where large partss of multiple counties from Mobile on the Gulf of Mexico coast to Talladega County experianced widespread damage. Citronelle Mayor Jason Stringer posted on Facebook that his city was “destroyed”
AUPROSPECTORS President Adam Broach said "every home should have a properly programmed weather radio, these are life-saving devices that can wake you up in the middle of the night when a tornado could be barreling down your street" Broach added, "we need to move away from the 'siren mentality' that World War 2 technology in tornado sirens will alert you if there is a tornado warning, acclaimed meteorologist James Spann has been preaching this message and I could not agree more."
The AUPROSPECTORS will be reaching out to manufactures for donations of radios and to other charitable organizations for donations to purchase radios and print a handy guide detailing what a weather watch is and the steps to take, what a weather warning is and the actions to take immediately to potentially save your life. Also in the guide will be tips from the National Weather Service on making a severe weather action kit that can be grabbed on the go, if you live in a mobile home make arrangements to go to a relative or friend's home if they are in a site-built sturdy home and the location of all Macon County tornado shelters.
The AUPROSPECTORS would like to work with as municipalities in Alabama to attempt to develop areas in public buildings that would make good areas for citizens to go in the event of a tornado. With working with municipalities the AUPROSPECTORS would like to reach out to the religious organizations and attempt to make basements or other sturdy areas open in the event of a tornado watch and or warning. Alabama not only has severe storms with severe damaging winds of 60 to 80 MPH winds strong violent tornadoes but also tropical systems of tropical storms and hurricanes.
